WABASHA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS - EVENT CENTER

In memory of Chad Schmit, a beloved former Wabasha County 4-Her who passed away suddenly due to cardiac complications, the Chad Schmit Memorial Beef Classic is making a heartfelt contribution to our community.

This year, the Classic is generously donating two Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices to the Wabasha County Agricultural Fair Association. In addition to the donation, they are also offering bystander hands-only CPR and AED training.

What You Will Learn:

  • Heart Attack vs. Cardiac Arrest: Understand the crucial differences between these two medical emergencies.

  • Hands-Only CPR: Learn how to administer effective chest compressions and discover why rescue breaths are no longer advised.

  • Operating an AED: Receive step-by-step instructions on how to use an AED device in an emergency situation.

  • Heart Disease and Stroke Awareness: Gain insight into the signs and symptoms of heart disease and stroke, along with a brief discussion on the legal aspects of providing aid.

Certification: Upon completing the course, participants will receive a certification card, acknowledging their newfound skills and readiness to act in emergencies.

Course Details:

  • Duration: 60-90 minutes

  • Capacity: Unlimited number of attendees

  • Registration: No preregistration required

Community Call to Action: We encourage all community members, 4-H families, and anyone interested in gaining these vital skills to attend this important training session. Your participation not only honors the memory of Chad Schmit but also strengthens the safety and resilience of our community.

Join us at the Wabasha County Fair and be a part of this invaluable initiative. Together, we can make a difference and save lives. See you there!
